Creatine as a driver of Brain tumor progression

The creatine-phosphagen system is an essential way cells store energy, which is why it used by bodybuilders. However, in the context of brain tumors, It is being used by brain tumor cells to promote growth and therapy resistance. Our laboratory examines these process in hopes to understand how to modulate them to prevent tumor growth and reccurence.

Polyamine Metabolism at the center of myeloid immunobiology

Polyamines, the first metabolite ever discovered, are highly basic molecules necessary for growth of every lifeform on Earth. Beyond their essential role in cellular growth, polyamines play controversial, and sometime contradictory roles in the immune system. Our laboratory seeks to understand the complicated roles of polyamine biology in brain tumor immunobiology.

Clinical Immune Monitoring

The Miska Laboratory believes collaboration is essential to success. In particular, we perform clinical immune monitoring for several clinical trials in both adult and pediatric brain tumors. Using several classic and cutting-edge techniques we seek to understand how immunotherapies are promoting systemic anti-tumor immunity.
